COVID-19 Update – 25th June 2020
Below is an update on the process and protocols in place at The Gables in line with the government and BVA guidelines as well as our amended opening hours. Thank you so much for all your support and cooperation so far. It really has been a trying time for everyone. The measures we have put in place are for the protection of you, your pets and the team here at The Gables.
We politely ask that anyone who is potentially symptomatic (cough/fever) DOES NOT attend the practice. Please arrange for a friend or relative to bring your pet to the surgery on your behalf.
Practice opening hours:
Monday – Friday 8:30am – 6:00pm
Saturday 8.30 am – 12:00pm
Appointment times:
Monday – Friday 9:00am – 11.15am, 2:00pm – 3.30pm & 4.30pm – 5.45pm
Saturday 9:00am – 11:00am
For any collections, please ensure you arrive at the practice no later than 5:45pm.
Visiting the practice
When visiting the practice, please call us from the car park to let us know you have arrived and a member of the team will then instruct you further.
We ask all dogs to be placed in the front porch way and close the black gate so the dog is secure. We ask owners to then step back so we can bring the dog into the practice whilst remaining socially distant.
For cats and smaller pets, please ensure you place them in secure and appropriate carriers before bringing them to the practice.
The vet or nurse will speak to the owner if required from the door (socially distanced) or over the phone.
Any medications are left with the patient in the doorway in a collection area.
Next week, we will be commencing operations at the practice again. If your pet is coming to the practice for an operation, we have a separate process in place.
Upon arrival, please call the practice to let us know you are here. You will then be asked to walk to the back of the practice to drop off your pet. There is a gate that we will ask all pet owners to close behind them to secure the animal before a member of the team collects them to take inside.
Again, please ensure cats and smaller pets are brought to the practice in suitable carriers.
Prescriptions and Diet Orders
For repeat prescription orders of ongoing medications please click HERE to fill an order via our website, email or call.
Please place your order well in advance of the end of your supply, especially if you require your medication to be posted. Our current recommendation is 8 days.
During this difficult time, it is still important to continue to treat your pet regularly for parasites like ticks, fleas and worms. These parasites will continue to find ways into your home and can disrupt you and your pets daily lives. We will continue to provide your treatments as best we can. Call us on 01482 648942 if you require a replenishment and we will advise what is required.
For collection, please call the practice ahead of your arrival to ensure your items are ready. Upon arrival, please call the practice from the car park and your items will be available from the dedicated collection area in the porch way.
We can mail out prescriptions or arrange collection of drugs and food. Alternatively we can arrange home delivery. Please phone the practice on 01482 648942 to discuss these options.
Neutering
From Monday 29th June, operations will commence at the practice but this will be on a limited basis. Please contact the practice to speak with the reception team who can provide more information.
Vaccinations
There are also now further services we can offer. These includes:
- Puppy and Kitten Primary Course Vaccinations
- All first year Booster Vaccinations
- Rabbit Vaccinations
- Adult Cat and Dog Vaccinations (from second year onward), if approaching to 15 months since last injection
Payments

Payments for medicines/products are to be taken before collection over the phone. For collection, please call the practice ahead of your arrival to ensure your items are ready. Upon arrival, please call the practice from the car park and your items will be available from the collection area in the porch way.
Our teams indoors are separated to ensure the safety of all pets and owners.
Many Thanks from the Gables Team!
